This antique ring has been one of my favorites for many years and I felt it was time to put it in the spotlight. The combination of diamonds, sapphires and rubies is pleasing to the eye, and not to mention patriotic.
The delicate hand carved filligree and millegrain setting is typical of Edwardian-style jewelry, adding an intricate texture. Edwardian inspired jewelry is feminine and light and dominated jewelry style from 1901 - 1910 during the reign of England's King Edward VII.

The 'Art Deco' style originally emerged in 1925 - after the World's Fair in Paris, France - and was popular through the mid 30's, with a style revival in the 60's-80's. The name came from the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes (International Exposition of Modern Industrial and Decorative Arts).
Art deco jewelry is an ornamental representation of elegance, glamour, functionality and modernity. It is said that the extravagent style flourished after the deprevations of World War I.
(Pictured right: Jewelry #6943 )
Art Deco Characteristics:
-
Intense, colorful, and streamlined geometric designs using circles, squares, triangles, trapezoids and rectangles.
-
Popular gemstone cuts that gained popularity during the art deco period are the emerald and trillion cuts.
-
White and black designs using Pave set diamonds to create a contrasting white "field" next to a black design of onyx or bakelite.
Common materials used in art deco jewelry are white gold, platinum, palladium, stainless steel, aluminum, coral, ivory, jade, inlaid wood, bakelite, laquer. Exotic materials such as zebra or shark skin were evidence of worldwide influence.

The art deco patterns appeared in many industries including automobiles, architecture, clothing, and of course jewelry. Do you recognize the building to the left with the art deco design roof - You're right, it's the Chrysler Building in NY! Can you distinguish the art deco design?
Well known jewelry designers at the forefront of the Art Deco movement include Harry Winston, Tiffany & Co., Cartier, the House of Mauboussin, and Van Cleef & Arpels.

This Diamond, Topaz and citrine Broach / Pendent set in 18k gold is reminiscent of the Art Nouveau era beginning in the 1900s thru the 1920s.. Colored stones were used more and bold pieces were very much in Vogue. Wonderful piece of Antique Jewelry.

The Tourmaline is one of my favorite gems. The color and clarity are incredible. As beautiful as an emerald ring, more durable than emeralds, and exceeds the clarity of emeralds many, many times the price. We found this piece in an amazing estate, and this is an exceptional find. Mounted in 18K gold with .22 cts of brilliant cut diamonds. The Tourmaline center stone is slightly over 6 carats.
Offered at $3885.00
